Likely you missed some sleep too, as you watched the summer Olympics from London. The stories and the competition were compelling. I remember the fulfillment of hopes realized, the character-development of disappointing losses, the overcoming of challenges to qualify, the appeal of friendship across country lines, the pride of family members and friends of the athletes, the variety of skills displayed across a wide spectrum of events, the diligence and pride of the host country, the deliberation and decision of judges, the retirement of older Olympians and the anticipation of Rio for others, the attractiveness of humility and the ugliness of arrogance, and the draw to watch another compelling story/event.
There are many benefits to the Olympics. One of the benefits is the encouragement to excellence in me, today.
